Windows 11 Insiders get screen tint and voice isolation

Microsoft released 11 Experimental channel build 26300.8497 on May 22, 2026. The update targets Windows Insiders and introduces several accessibility improvements alongside reliability fixes.

New build adds accessibility features and reliability fixes for Windows Insiders

The headline feature is screen tint, a system-wide setting that applies a color overlay to reduce eye strain. Users can adjust this in the accessibility menu without third-party tools. Narrator now supports plug-and-play HID-standard refreshable Braille displays with USB connections working out of the box and Bluetooth pairing available through Windows Settings. Voice Access gains a voice isolation toggle that filters nearby speech and background noise while keeping all processing on device.

Build 26300.8497 joins three other simultaneous Insider flights released May 22, including Beta build 26220.8491 and Experimental Future Platforms build 29595.1000. The latter replaces the Canary channel and covers early foundational work on Microsoft's next-generation Windows platform. Not all enrolled devices have received the updated channel labels yet, and Microsoft notes the transition is still ongoing.

This update arrives as Windows security infrastructure faces scrutiny with Secure Boot certificate expiration beginning June 24. Features in the Experimental channel remain subject to change, removal, or cancellation before any stable release. Insiders who want immediate access can enable rapid updates in Windows Update settings.
