LG Tandem ATO OLED Panel Promises 2.3 Hours More Laptop Battery Life

LG has unveiled a new 16-inch Tandem ATO OLED panel at Display Week in Los Angeles. The display is designed for laptops and aims to improve battery life.

Dual-layer OLED technology boosts efficiency

The panel uses two OLED layers, a technology LG calls Tandem ATO, where ATO stands for Advanced Thin OLED. It offers a resolution of 3200×2000 pixels, with a peak SDR brightness of 1000 nits and a peak HDR brightness of 2000 nits. The contrast ratio is 1:1,000,000, and it covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The display also supports variable refresh rates between 20 and 120 Hz.

According to LG, the Tandem ATO OLED panel can deliver up to 2.3 hours more battery life compared to a conventional OLED display. This improvement comes from the tandem structure, which is more power-efficient.

LG has not confirmed when the panel will be available in laptops. The release date remains unknown.
