The Apple Watch Series 12 will not include a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, according to a leaker known as Instant Digital. The company has abandoned plans for the sensor due to production costs and space constraints.

The space originally intended for the fingerprint sensor will instead be used for a larger battery. It is not yet known whether this larger battery will extend runtime or simply compensate for higher power consumption from new AI features.

More advanced health sensors, such as a blood glucose sensor and improved blood pressure measurement, are not expected to launch with the Series 12. The leaker says Apple is working on more advanced sensors but provides no further details.

The Apple Watch Series 12 is rumored to launch in September 2025. Apple has not confirmed the feature set or launch window.
