WhatsApp lets anyone join voice and video calls without an account

WhatsApp makes it super easy to start participating in voice/video calls without requiring to open an account. This is important since it allows people to start joining voice or video calls without downloading an app or verifying their phone number. This can help sellers which usually ignore calls for the fact that they do not have the right software in place to accept the call. Users will be able to join a call directly from the web or link. It's free and available to everyone so there is no paywall to this basic communication service.

Meta removes login requirement for instant call participation

Meta, launched this feature in their messaging platform to increase the accessibility of audio/video communication in real time. This update will help to include more users which could be otherwise left out of a group call due to the tech needed to set it up. By getting rid of the requirement to create an account Meta is trying to simplify the ability to accept call invitations. It is part of a wider trend in the industry towards increasing the accessibility for new users in social communication apps.

What this feature does on the technical level is to let unauthenticated users join directly in a call through links provided. No need to set up a new account or log into your Meta account. Technically they'll handle it on the background to ensure the calls are stable for everyone. This simplifies it all to get you in there right away. Skipping all the setup usually needed for standard messaging.

During our last coverage of the WhatsApp update we had some talks about the platform security and stability. So it seems that this update is more towards increasing the accessibility for now. No new privacy features for these guest calls. It should still work like any other call, while no permanent profile for guests. Easy to use but no long term data on informal chats.

WhatsApp now lets you join instantly in any call just by having a link. No need to create an account. Free and also for voice and video calls. Makes it easy to receive and join a conversation. This update is already available to all users worldwide.
