Microsoft Surface Pro Commercial Edition Launches with Snapdragon X2

Microsoft released the Surface Pro Commercial Edition in China on July 6, 2024, giving enterprise buyers a dedicated Windows on ARM device built for local AI workloads. This launch matters because it brings the Snapdragon X2 processor to a commercial tablet, enabling offline semantic processing and intelligent noise cancellation without relying on cloud connectivity. Companies needing secure, local AI capabilities now have a specific hardware option that integrates directly with Windows 11 features.

The device centers on the Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 system-on-chip, available in a 10-core Plus variant or a 12-core Elite variant. Microsoft paired this silicon with an integrated Hexagon NPU delivering 80 TOPS of AI. The 13-inch PixelSense Flow display supports 2880×1920 resolution and 120Hz refresh rates, with buyers choosing between LCD and OLED panels depending on their configuration tier.

Visual inputs feature a 1440p Surface Studio Camera on the front and a 10-megapixel rear camera, while the stylus input supports 4096 levels of pressure.

Microsoft lists seven specific configurations in China, ranging from 16GB to 64GB of RAM and 512GB to 1TB of SSD storage. The base model with the Snapdragon X2 Plus, LCD screen, 16GB RAM, and 512GB SSD starts at 12,988 CNY (around $1,911). Higher-end models with the Snapdragon X2 Elite, OLED screens, and larger memory pools reach up to 29,488 CNY (around $4,339).
