Google has announced Noto 3D, a new set of emoji designed to add more emotional depth to digital conversations. The emoji move from flat designs to three-dimensional icons with volume and surface detail.
Pixel phones get first access
Noto 3D will first appear on Pixel phones before expanding to other platforms. The set aims to make digital expression feel more tangible, according to Google.
The new emoji are planned for release later this year. Google has not confirmed an exact date.
Jennifer Daniel, Creative Director of Emoji at Google, said: "I don't send status updates to my boss, I send 🌯. In our world, a burrito means our new emoji are wrapped and ready for delivery."
