Modi Meets ASML: India’s First 300mm Chip Fab Under Construction in Gujarat

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Netherlands to discuss cooperation with ASML, the Dutch lithography equipment maker. During the visit, Tata Group signed an agreement with ASML to build India's first 300mm wafer fab in Dholera, Gujarat.

Tata Group invests $11 billion in Dholera fab

Tata Group invested $11 billion in the project. The fab will produce chips for AI, automotive, and other sectors with a monthly capacity of 50,000 wafers. Initial process nodes will include 110nm, 90nm, 40nm, and down to 28nm. The fab will not use EUV lithography; older DUV models suffice.

The fab is currently under construction in India. Tata Group has a technology partnership with Taiwan's Powerchip (PSMC).

Indian media reported that the fab will not require EUV lithography, as the initial process nodes are mature enough for DUV equipment. ASML's role in the partnership was not detailed.
