NVIDIA DLSS 5 Update Delivers Up To 40% FPS Boost in Unsupported Games

Free performance uplift for PC players running unsupported games: higher framerates! has released a new DLSS 5 Neural Rendering model that saves time and memory. And modders are already injecting this upgrade in games that do not support DLSS. As a result, players can now get potentially large performance boosts for free – without needing to buy anything.

Modders inject optimized DLL into unsupported titles for significant performance gains

The NVIDIA update affects the neural rendering part of DLSS 5. Specifically, they're updating the nvngx_dlssnr.dll file. On October 16, 2026, NVIDIA released a new version of the file, updating it from version 310.8.x to 310.9.16.0.

The new model includes optimizations to decrease the neural network size and VRAM requirements. Thanks to these changes, the rendering pipeline becomes faster and requires fewer resources.

According to NVIDIA, the new model reduces VRAM usage by 20% at 4K. And the processing speed for Neural Rendering tasks is up to 2x faster compared to the old model. This efficiency is present in the version 310.9.16.0 DLL file – for both supported and unsupported workloads. And these tech upgrades are the reason for the performance boosts we're seeing in the community.

Players are seeing significant framerate improvements in games like Forza Horizon 6 and Resident Evil Requiem when they mod the new DLL into the game. In Forza Horizon 6, for example, the performance is almost 40% better with the new model. Resident Evil Requiem runs 30% faster with the new neural rendering engine.

And in the case of tester Detro, he's seeing a 39% performance boost on RTX 4080 SUPER. It goes from 108 FPS to 150 FPS at 4K with Path Tracing.

There's no significant impact on visual quality with the new model, although there's some "soft" color. Old and new model work at stock settings with 100% intensity and resolution. It remains to be seen how much these visual differences may impact gameplay clarity. It's certainly a clear performance improvement that you can get for free (if you're willing to mod your game).

The new DLSS 5 Neural Rendering model is already out there for you to download and mod. You can use the 310.9.16.0 DLL file to inject it into unsupported games. And you can expect up to 40% more FPS. So, here's a free performance uplift for your high-end PC gaming rig.
