Xiaomi BE6500 Firmware Update Adds Signal Heatmap and IoT Network

Xiaomi updated the firmware for its BE6500 router to version 1.0.64, bringing tools that help users manage home networks more precisely. The update adds visual coverage mapping and dedicated networks for smart devices, which should reduce connection headaches for households with many gadgets. These changes matter because they give owners better control over signal strength and device isolation without needing extra hardware.

New tools help visualize coverage and isolate smart devices

The firmware update targets the Xiaomi Router BE6500, a Wi-Fi 7 mesh system designed for whole-home coverage. Xiaomi introduced these changes through its official Smart Ecosystem Weibo account, highlighting a refresh to the Mi Home app interface. The update aims to improve the user experience for people managing complex mesh setups.

A new Signal Heatmap feature lets users select floor plans to simulate and display network coverage across different areas. The update also introduces an IoT Dedicated Network, allowing users to create a separate network for smart devices to improve compatibility and stability. Mesh Node Assignment now supports fixing terminals to specific wireless access points to improve networking quality for devices that do not support roaming. Users can also set manual roaming thresholds in the web management page to adjust strategies based on their actual network environment.

The Mi Home plugin adds IP/MAC binding functions for fixed management of devices like cameras. IPv6 support expands with custom LAN address acquisition methods for better network configuration. The update includes bug fixes for issues where phones could not access the internet after active roaming and 5GHz bandwidth anomalies after scheduled Wi-Fi activation. Users who set IPv6 to Native mode with manual DNS should note that the upgrade will clear the DNS configuration, requiring manual re-setup.
