Taiwan High Speed Rail passengers can now buy tickets via Bluetooth near the gate using the THSR app, skipping the queue. The system also accepts QR code tickets at fast readers, though riders need to slow down slightly when passing through.
Bluetooth ticketing now available at Taipei Main Station
The THSR Bluetooth and QR code ticket system runs on the official THSR mobile app. It covers non-reserved cars, and tickets remain flexible with cancellation options.
A short trip from Taipei Main Station to Nangang costs 35 TWD, roughly $1.11, for the eight-minute ride. The QR code readers are fast but require a brief slowdown at the gate.
The system is popular, but capacity is constrained. New trains are expected within a year to address demand.
