RuneScape: Dragonwilds marks the first console release for Jagex's long-running MMORPG franchise, which originally launched on PC in 2001. The title will arrive on PlayStation 5 later in 2026, ending a 25-year absence from home consoles. This launch follows the game's successful Steam Early Access debut in April 2025, where it sold over one million copies.
Jagex confirms console debut with PlayStation Plus inclusion and 2026 launch window
The PS5 version will join day-one with PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscription tiers, giving subscribers immediate access without additional purchase. Jagex has not confirmed whether cross-play between the console and PC versions will be available at launch or through future updates.
The Dragonwilds update brings fresh gameplay features to the RuneScape world while preserving the foundational systems that have shaped the franchise since its inception. The game builds on feedback gathered during its Early Access period, refining systems before the full console release.
Jagex has outlined a broader 2026 roadmap alongside Dragonwilds, including content updates like Umbral Sands in June, an Agility skill expansion in July, and Scorned Wilderness in September. These enhancements are designed to maintain active participation among players on existing platforms while preparing for the upcoming PlayStation 5 release.
