REDMAGIC has announced a new 5K MiniLED monitor built for gamers, focusing on high-end gaming monitor with dense local dimming and high refresh rate. This one is an easy win for those who want to have HDR without the cost you'd typically have to pay for it. REDMAGIC has made the announcement during their smartphone event to make a move into the peripherals market.
REDMAGIC expands into peripherals with a high-spec 5K MiniLED display
The new monitor has two modes for resolution and refresh rates so that it can work with as many systems as possible. You'll have 5K with 180Hz or you can go with a 2K resolution but with 330Hz. So you can either go with the best visuals or get the edge in competitive titles, depending on your system's capabilities.
Specifications
- Resolution: 5K (5120×2880) at 180Hz / 2K (2560×1440) at 330Hz
- Backlight Zoning: 5,184 zones
- Peak Brightness: 1400 nits
- Color Gamut: 95% BT.2020
- Design: Ultra-thin full aluminum body
When we look at the tech specs, the new display has 5,184 local dimming zones for better contrast. It can go to a peak HDR brightness of 1400 nits and it has 95% coverage for BT.2020 color gamut. Design-wise, it's a full aluminum ultra-thin monitor with gradient smoked silk and a transparent esports window.
REDMAGIC 5K MiniLED Monitor costs 6,499 CNY ($969 approx) and will be launched in China in December (it says 2026 but that must be a typo – it's announced in October 2024. So most likely it's 2024. But that's what they have listed). They haven't mentioned screen size during the event.
REDMAGIC is bringing a high-quality gaming monitor to the Chinese market for an affordable price. The 5K and many dimming zones with a price below $1000 is a big difference from what's out there. If you're in that region, you'll be able to get this later this year (after the year typo is fixed).
