Piper Sandler Predicts GTA 6 Launch Day Sales Will Exceed 45 Million Units

Piper Sandler forecasts that Grand Theft Auto 6 will move more than 45 million copies on its first day of release. The firm built this projection using web traffic data from Reddit and historical sales patterns for major video game titles.

Analyst model uses subreddit traffic to project record-breaking opening for the upcoming title.

The analysis centers on visitor counts for the r/GTA6 subreddit to estimate launch day demand. Piper Sandler applied conversion multipliers to that traffic volume to derive a unit count near 46 million copies.

The model tracks eighteen AAA game launches over the past eight years. It compares subreddit engagement against known sales figures to calibrate its predictions.

Grand Theft Auto V sold 11.21 million units on its launch day in 2013. The new report uses that benchmark alongside current digital engagement metrics to project a much larger opening for Grand Theft Auto 6.
