MSI has updated its GeForce RTX 5060 lineup with four new V1 models that switch to the GB205 GPU silicon. This change matters because the new silicon replaces the GB206-250 chip found in previous versions, which may alter performance characteristics for existing owners. Buyers should check if their current cards need a hardware refresh or if this represents a distinct performance tier.
Four new variants replace GB206-250 with GB205 silicon
The new cards include the GAMING V1, GAMING OC V1, VENTUS 2X V1, and VENTUS 2X OC V1. All four variants retain the standard RTX 5060 configuration with 3,840 CUDA cores. They also keep the 8GB GDDR7 memory running at 28 Gbps through a 128-bit interface. This setup provides 448 GB/s of memory bandwidth across the board.
Specifications
- GPU: GB205
- CUDA Cores: 3,840
- Memory: 8GB GDDR7
- Memory Speed: 28 Gbps
- Memory Interface: 128-bit
MSI has adjusted power ratings and clock speeds for the new V1 designs. The GAMING OC V1 drops its power consumption from 155W to 150W while reducing its boost clock to 2,587 MHz. The standard GAMING V1 also lowers its power rating to 150W but keeps its 2,497 MHz boost clock. The VENTUS 2X models maintain their previous clock speeds and a 145W power rating.
The VENTUS 2X V1 and VENTUS 2X OC V1 cards now weigh 548 grams, which is an increase from their previous weight. All cards utilize a PCIe 5.0 x8 interface for data transfer. MSI has listed these models on its global website but has not announced pricing or regional availability. The V1 naming convention does not clearly identify the underlying GPU change to consumers.
MSI confirmed the specifications for these four new graphics cards through its official channels. The shift to the GB205 GPU is the primary technical update for this refresh. Gamers and PC builders should monitor official MSI announcements for pricing details when they become available.
