Fallout: New Vegas, the classic RPG from Bethesda, gets a new mod with full path tracing lighting. New Vegas RTX is a mod that brings modern ray tracing technology to Bethesda’s 2010 game. With this mod, you can see physically correct shadows and reflections as you wait for a (hopefully) official remaster to come along. The modder worked on this for months as they created their own renderer for this to work.

Kim2091's mod brings modern ray tracing to Bethesda's 2010 RPG ahead of official remasters
New Vegas RTX is the mod by Kim2091 on Nexus Mods. Kim2091 is a co-founder of the official RTX Remix Discord server. They have a highly modified version of NVIDIA’s toolkit to allow this to work in New Vegas. They have a custom NVSE plugin that feeds the scene data from the game into the renderer, avoiding the normal caveats.
Your game will have a new physically based sky with volumetric clouds, stars, and the moon. These work with the internal weather in the game. Water rendering supports path traced waves/ripples and caustics.
The sunlight dims when you’re in the water. It has full path traced lighting. This includes the dynamic lighting from your Pip-Boy and lights behind you.
This mod includes support for all major upscaling methods. You get support for NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS. There is also support for NVIDIA Reflex to lower latency.
Kim2091 suggests you use XeSS instead of FSR if you have AMD/Intel GPU for stability. In the end, they have a renderer that’s much faster than what you could get with vanilla RTX Remix.
This mod comes at a good time. We know that Bethesda is working on official remasters for Fallout 3 and New Vegas in July 2026. There’s no official word on when those are dropping yet.
However, this modder’s work shows how good the game can look using the engine. If you want to see those improvements today, just download this mod.
