Cherry Launches MX ILLUMA and MX EMERALD REEF Switches With Enhanced RGB and Tactile Feedback

Cherry introduces 2 new series of switches to fit the user-specific sensory requirements for keyboard fans. Cherry is aware that keyboard fans will care most about the sensory experience (touch, sound, appearance, etc.) of a switch more than any other aspects (technic). So the new switches are being introduced to give users a more refined sensory experience with better tactile and visual experience.

New Cherry switches bring improved tactile feedback and RGB effects to keyboard enthusiasts

Two new switches are the MX ILLUMA series with Red & Brown and MX EMERALD REEF tactile switch. All of them are 5-pin standard type for universal keyboard PCB compatibility. For keyboard fans, Cherry picks these switches for better typing experience with optimized tactile and more RGB effect.

MX ILLUMA Red comes with 45cN actuation force and MX ILLUMA Brown needs 55cN. And both the ILLUMA switches use Gold Crosspoint. They can last for 100 million keystrokes.

MX EMERALD REEF is for a more silent typing experience. The actuation force is 41cN and actuation distance is 2.0mm. It can last for 50 million keystrokes.

As Product Manager in Cherry, Gunnar Schreck says these new switches offer a more robust typing experience with optimized tactile/better RGB effect. These new switches are in MX EXPERIENCE BOX 2ND EDITION for sampling. There are 36 units. So users can try the new tactile/visual before building the switches.
