The PD5 runs on a full Android operating system powered by an octa-core processor. This setup allows the player to handle modern music streaming services without lag. The hardware is designed to be compact, making it easy to carry in a pocket or bag during daily use.

Audio decoding is handled by eight Cirrus Logic CS43198 digital-to-analog converter chips. The system allows users to switch between an Octa DAC mode for maximum performance and a Quad DAC mode to conserve energy. It supports PCM audio up to 384 kHz at 32 bits and DSD256 at 11.2 MHz.
Connectivity includes dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.3 with support for aptX HD, LDAC, and LHDC codecs. A new feature called EnviroTune analyzes ambient noise in real time to automatically adjust the sound output. The battery lasts up to 28 hours in Quad DAC mode and fully charges in about 2.5 hours via USB PD 3.0.
Astell&Kern has not yet disclosed the exact release date or the final price for the global market. The company stated that detailed information regarding the schedule and expected cost will be announced soon. Buyers should wait for the official pricing update before making a purchase decision.
