Innersloth is adding a single-player narrative mode to its multiplayer social deduction title Among Us. The new chapter focuses on detective work and investigation mechanics within the game's established universe.
Innersloth shifts crewmates to animus roles in a virtual reality murder investigation
The update introduces a story experience called On Guard, which shifts from crewmate duties to an animus role. Players navigate a virtual reality simulation to solve a murder mystery and clear their name.

On Guard launches as a free demo during Steam Next Fest between June 15 and June 22, 2026. The gameplay loop combines detective work with mini-games and narrative choices that shape the investigation.
The story mode allows players to experience the Among Us universe through a structured mystery rather than social deduction gameplay. This expansion targets fans looking for solo campaigns alongside the existing multiplayer format.
