Activision is treating the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 as the biggest game of the year, which means the upcoming Zelda remake from Nintendo is getting sidelined. For you, the consumer, this is relevant because this means a huge change in the strategy of this game publisher. They are trying to simplify the market and are taking the game off of Xbox Game Pass at release.

That's a big change in their strategy from past years. If you want to play this game right away, without a subscription, then you will need to buy the game.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is coming to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. They are bringing this game back to the Nintendo platforms. That means you'll see it on the Switch 2 as well.

So, Tyler Bahl, the chief marketing officer for Activision, said they wanted to simplify things a little bit so that people won't be confused as to how they can access Call of Duty. They worked really closely with the Xbox group to make sure that they were on board with this strategy for the launch. They are really trying to make sure that they communicate their message to simplify the access to this game.

Modern Warfare 4 had their campaign released for pre-order customers on October 20. Also on October 20, the DMZ mode was released for the game. Finally, the game releases in stores on October 23.

They have taken this game off of Game Pass to try to simplify access to the game in the market. That's in contrast to what they did last year with Black Ops 7. In order to make sure that the community on Xbox isn't upset with that decision, they are giving a 10% loyalty discount.

They are giving out an exclusive Xbox blueprint as well. They want to make sure people feel good while they are moving away from including this game in subscriptions.

Tyler Bahl talks about the market before and how it was confusing. They wanted to simplify how fans can access the Call of Duty games. "For us, it was adding a little bit of confusion to the market, of how you can get Call of Duty. A lot of ways, we really wanted to simplify it.

But working with the Xbox team, they've been all in. And we're just really focused on how we can get the message out." So, Activision is claiming that Modern Warfare 4 and GTA 6 are the 2 biggest games of the year. That's confirmed. So, now you know what the hype is going to be like during the release.
