Ubisoft's upcoming Assassin's Creed Hexe is reportedly set in 16th-century Würzburg, Bavaria, during the brutal witch trials. The game's protagonist is named Anika, who is said to be a descendant of Claudia Auditore, Ezio's sister. Leaked dialogue suggests Ezio Auditore himself may return as an aged mentor figure.
Leaked dialogue reveals Anika's lineage
According to leaks, Anika is accused of witchcraft, with one line stating: "They call me a witch. They want to burn me for what I can do. For what I know." Gameplay mechanics reportedly include tree-to-tree branch jumping, blood pacts, and poison. A new detection system makes NPCs immediately report minor suspicious activities. A character named Wolfgang is confirmed to appear in the main story, though his role remains unclear.
Development has seen leadership changes. Creative Director Clint Hocking left in February 2026 and was replaced by Jean Guesdon. Game Director Benoit Richer departed in April 2026, and Ubisoft has not named a replacement. The current internal target is a June 2027 release, with a potential slip to Holiday 2027.
It is unclear whether Ezio appears physically, through Isu artifact projections, or in flashbacks. The source of these details is attributed to leakers Rogue, j0nathan, Tom Henderson, and Insider Gaming.
