Akko FUNBOX leverless arcade controller launches in Japan

Gamers who want faster reaction times in arcade titles now have a new option that removes the traditional lever and replaces it with precise digital control. Akko released the FUNBOX, its first leverless arcade controller designed for players who prefer instant response over mechanical feedback.

Digital input device offers rapid trigger adjustments for faster gameplay response

The device uses Kailh Star Mini Magnetic low-profile magnetic switches instead of standard arcade buttons. These components allow the controller to adjust rapid trigger sensitivity down to 0.005mm and let users tune the actuation point anywhere between 0.1mm and 2.8mm.

A full-color LCD screen sits on the faceplate alongside an aluminum alloy multi-function dial for direct adjustments. Players can switch modes, configure SOCD settings, or load custom images in JPEG, PNG, or GIF formats without touching a computer. The controller supports hot-swappable switches and connects via USB cable at up to 8000Hz polling rate.

The FUNBOX ships now in Japan for 22,990 JPY (around $142) tax-included (around $150). This release gives Japanese players immediate access to a fully digital arcade experience that prioritizes speed over the tactile resistance of traditional levers.
