Modix MAMA-1000 Pellet 3D Printer Offers 1m³ Build Volume at 3kg Per Hour

Modix has launched the MAMA-1000, a large-format 3D printer that uses plastic pellets instead of filament. The machine targets users who need big parts fast without the high cost of filament-based printing.

Pellet printing enables faster throughput

The MAMA-1000 is the latest addition to Modix's MAMA family. It offers a cubic meter build volume, making it suitable for furniture, tooling, and industrial prototypes. The printer ships fully assembled and includes professional installation.

Specifications

  • Build volume: 1 cubic meter
  • Nozzle size: 3 to 5mm
  • Print speed: up to 3 kg per hour
  • Print head: DYZE Design Pulsar pellet print head
  • Tool head swap: Modix Griffin Ultra (1.75mm filament, 1.6mm nozzle)

At the heart of the system is a Canadian-made DYZE Design Pulsar pellet print head with a 3 to 5mm nozzle. It can print up to 3 kg per hour, significantly faster than filament printers. The printer uses compressed air to feed pellets from a hopper to the extruder.

Tool head swap adds filament capability

The MAMA-1000 supports materials including PLA and nylon. PLA pellets cost as little as $2 per kg in bulk, according to Tom's Hardware. Users can swap the tool head for a Modix Griffin Ultra, which uses standard 1.75mm filament and a 1.6mm nozzle for finer details.

Pricing starts at $35,000. The printer comes fully assembled with professional installation included in the price.

The MAMA-1000 fills a gap between Modix's smaller printers and the larger MAMA-1700. CEO Shachar Gafni said the model offers the flexibility of combining pellet and filament extrusion in a more compact format.

The MAMA-1000 is a confirmed product with pricing and availability details provided by Modix. It is available now for order.
