Xiaomi President Lu Weibing has confirmed that the company's in-house XRING 03 chip will launch later this year. The processor is expected to use TSMC's 3nm N3P node, not the newer 2nm process.
XRING 03 uses TSMC 3nm and ARM designs
The XRING 03 will likely rely on ARM CPU and GPU designs rather than in-house cores. According to earlier reports, the chip may also be used in automobiles, expanding beyond smartphones and tablets.
The XRING 03 is expected to launch globally later this year.
The decision to use an older node and ARM designs could put the XRING 03 at a technological disadvantage compared to competitors. Xiaomi has not confirmed the chip's performance or specific applications beyond the initial announcement.
