Watercool has released the HEATKILLER V, marking the first major update to its flagship CPU cooling line in more than ten years. This refresh matters because it introduces a thinner cold plate design that should improve thermal contact with modern processor surfaces. Buyers looking for high-performance liquid cooling components now have a new option that prioritizes minimal base plate thickness.

New split cold plates feature thinner fins for AMD AM4 and AM5
The HEATKILLER V is a split cold plate designed specifically for AMD desktop platforms. It supports both the older AM4 socket and the current AM5 socket. Watercool offers two distinct models to target different cooling needs: the HEATKILLER V PRO and the HEATKILLER V ULTRA. Both versions feature a redesigned internal structure with new fins and flow channels to optimize coolant movement.

Watercool plans to expand the product line later this year with a full metal cover version. This metal variant is scheduled to arrive in October 2024. The current acrylic models are available globally starting from the announcement date in late August. The pricing for the initial release is set at 159.95 EUR (around $186) for the PRO model and 179.95 EUR (around $210) for the ULTRA model.

The introduction of the ULTRA variant with its ultra-thin 0.15mm fins suggests a focus on maximizing thermal performance for high-end AMD CPUs.
