Super Flower has issued a clarification on an erroneous marketing message regarding the use of all Japanese capacitors in the LEADEX VIII PLATINUM PRO PREMIUM power supply. This correction is important for users who may place emphasis on component sourcing as a measure of quality and longevity. Consumers are now presented with accurate hardware specifications and avoid marketing claims that may be overinflated.

Correction follows teardown analysis revealing mixed component sourcing
Super Flower has acknowledged that the LEADEX VIII PLATINUM PRO PREMIUM (model: SF-F14SP(T)) power supply is a combination of different capacitor sourcing. The mainboard of the supply uses Japanese capacitors but the modular panel section is a different location. This differentiation is between the internal power control circuitry and the external connection interface.
Specifications
- Capacitor Composition: Japanese capacitors on mainboard only; Taiwanese capacitors on modular panel
- Modular Panel Capacitors: 6 electrolytic capacitors from FPC (Taiwan)
- Model Number: SF-F14SP (T)
In a more thorough teardown, it was discovered that the modular panel part of the supply is made up of 6 electrolytic capacitors from the FPC (Taiwanese) source. The mainboard area still uses the Japanese 105C rated capacitors that Super Flower initially touted in the marketing messages. The issue came from an overstatement in terms of the geographic location of all the capacitors inside the supply.
This correction is a result of a teardown analysis performed by reviewer Gangdu Langzi who spotted the Taiwanese capacitors in the modular section of the supply. Note that the LEADEX VIII PRO series power supplies available in mainland China have similar naming scheme and components. Users need to check the actual sourcing of the capacitors (if this is a primary consideration for purchasing).
Super Flower has admitted the mistake and has cleared up the component sourcing for the LEADEX VIII PLATINUM PRO PREMIUM. The mainboard part has Japanese capacitors and the modular panel part is from Taiwan. Instead of "all Japanese" the correct component sourcing is now provided as the truth.

Does the switch to FPC capacitors on the modular panel impact the ripple specs or just the marketing claim about the mainboard?
The article confirms the mainboard still uses the Japanese 105C parts so the core regulation should remain unaffected. The panel capacitors only handle the secondary side switching which is less critical for stability.
calling it a mistake seems generous when the unit was advertised with all Japanese caps 😂
I just want to know if it will last ten years without failing on me.
The model number SF-F14SP(T) suggests the T might denote the regional or component variance for the Chinese market.
