Unknown Worlds launched Subnautica 2 into early access on February 28, and the game sold 2 million copies within its first 12 hours. The sequel also drew over 651,000 peak concurrent players across Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Xbox.

Steam concurrent players hit 467,000

On Steam alone, peak concurrent players reached 467,000, nine times the all-time peak of the original Subnautica. The game holds a 'Very Positive' rating on Steam with 92% positive reviews. Subnautica 2 runs on Unreal Engine 5 and supports co-op for up to four players with full crossplay between PC and Xbox.

The early access period is expected to last two to three years, with a planned roadmap for new content. Unknown Worlds described the design target as roughly 'a third new, a third the same, and a third improved.'

On Twitch, Subnautica 2 peaked at over 413,000 concurrent viewers, ranking No. 1 across all categories. The game is available now on PC and Xbox Series S|X.
