Two new Geekbench entries for a device called Valve Fremont appeared on June 15, 2026. For the first time, the benchmarks list SteamOS as the operating system. This suggests testers are now running the upcoming Steam Machine on its native OS.
Benchmarks reveal AMD CPU performance
The Steam Machine is expected to launch in Summer 2026, possibly early in the season. Valve has not confirmed the exact date. The device is powered by an AMD Custom CPU 1772 with 6 cores and 12 threads, running at a base clock of 4.86 GHz.
Specifications
- Processor: AMD Custom CPU 1772
- Core Configuration: 6 cores, 12 threads
- Clock Speed: 4.86 GHz base frequency
The single-core score of 2334 is roughly twice that of the PlayStation 5 CPU, which scored 1218. However, the scores are similar to earlier Windows-based benchmarks. According to Videocardz, SteamOS does not bring significant performance improvement over Windows.
Pricing details remain unconfirmed. A report from two months ago suggested the price may exceed $950, but that is still a rumor. We touched on Valve Releases SteamOS 3.8.9 Beta With in our earlier Valve coverage.
