Starfield players have long complained about the jarring loading screens between space and planetary surfaces. A new mod attempts to fix this friction by enabling seamless transitions, bringing the experience closer to titles like No Man's Sky. This update enhances the experience by eliminating the usual loading screens between space and planetary surfaces, helping players stay immersed in the journey.
Singer-songwriter builds mod to mimic No Man's Sky seamless transitions
Frederik Wessberg, a Danish singer-songwriter and audio engineer, is leading the development of the Starfield Seamless Landing mod. He is not a professional coder but is treating this project as a passion effort. The mod is designed exclusively for PC and will not appear on console versions of the game.
The mod requires the installation of SFSE, the game's Script Extender, to function properly. Wessberg leverages Starfield's hidden physics engine to render 3D planets rather than using flat textures. The mod utilizes the game's underlying physics engine to render dynamic weather and atmospheric effects in real time.
Visual enhancements include dynamic weather systems, 3D volumetric clouds, and thunderstorms with lightning strikes. The mod also adds polar auroras, night-side airglow, and scientifically accurate atmospheric scattering. City lights and cloud shadows are rendered to create realistic re-entry effects.
There is currently no estimated time of arrival for the mod's public release. Wessberg describes the project as still being a work in progress without a fixed launch date. Players interested in this feature will need to wait for further development updates.
