New satellite hardware details reveal massive computational capacity for future space operations
SpaceX revealed the AI1 satellite as its first generation of dedicated hardware for artificial intelligence processing. The vehicle features a 70-meter wingspan designed to carry significant computational equipment.
The satellite supports up to 150 kilowatts of peak compute power. It maintains an average payload capacity of 120 kilowatts across operations. This configuration delivers roughly 70 kilowatts of processing capability per ton of hardware mass.
SpaceX plans to build a Terafab facility with partners Tesla and Intel to achieve one terawatt of annual output. The company also secured an 110,000 GPU cloud agreement with Google valued at $920 million each month.
