YouTuber TrashBench tested a modified RTX 3080 equipped with eleven fans and an all-in-one liquid cooler. The setup included 120mm Arctic fans, server fans, and thermal putty placed between the backplate and the water block. This configuration represents a significant departure from standard air or closed-loop cooling designs.

Despite the massive thermal drop, gaming performance saw only minor increases. The card averaged 178 FPS in Shadow of the Tomb Raider at 1440p with the stock cooler. Overclocking the card with the stock cooler raised that average to 183 FPS. The modified setup reached 187 FPS, a gain of just 4 FPS over the stock overclocked state.
TrashBench noted that the modification added only 2 FPS at stock clocks and 4 FPS with overclocking. We looked at extreme GPU cooling mods earlier while tracking enthusiast hardware experiments.
