On October 30, 2024, Rapoo introduced the VT4 V2 series of mouse for claw grip hand posture users seeking high polling rate without the high price. The lowest version Standard edition starts from 199 CNY (About $29.77), making 8kHz feasible to be more available to average gamers. We caught the news while monitoring other high-polling rate mice.

Rapoo VT4 V2 series launches with four versions starting at 199 CNY

VT4 V2 is a mid-sized mouse tailored for the claw grip hand posture. There are four separate versions: Standard, MAX, Air MAX and Master edition. There are different options for the sensor and weight you can get with the same chassis.

Specifications

  • Controller: Nordic nRF54 series
  • Polling Rate: 8kHz (USB-C and 2.4GHz)
  • Sensor: PAW3950 (Standard Edition)
  • Frame Rate: >20000fps
  • Dimensions: 123x65x38 mm

All the VT4 V2 models use Nordic nRF54 series controller. With this, all the mouse support 8kHz polling rate in both USB-C wire-based and 2.4GHz wireless usage. The Standard edition utilizes this controller with PAW3950 sensor and mechanical micro-switch.

The mouse support 20000fps+ frame rate for high-speed tracking. The physical size is 123x65x38 mm, so it is a compact one. With these specifications, it is able to cope with high speed movement of competitive games.

The VT4 V2 series is now launched in China, and is available from the date of announcement. Previously we wrote about Aula SC900 V2 Gaming Mouse Launches which also support 8kHz polling. The VT4 V2 is the similar high-polling offering but at a more affordable price.

  1. 199 yuan is surprisingly cheap for 8kHz. I might grab one for the office mouse. The claw grip size sounds right for my hands.

  2. Does the Nordic nRF54 controller have any Linux driver support yet? I need to know if the polling rate works on Arch.

    1. Nordic chips usually rely on proprietary HID drivers. You will likely need a custom udev rule or a user-space daemon to maintain 8kHz without dropping packets. Check the vendor page for Linux tools.

  3. tbh 8kHz is overkill unless you play at 1000+ fps. the standard edition with mechanical switches feels dated compared to optical. 🤔

  4. Polling rate numbers mean nothing without latency benchmarks. The PAW3950 is good but I want to see input lag tests against the SC900 V2 before I care.

  5. For a student budget, 199 CNY is accessible. I am weighing if the upgrade from 1kHz is worth the potential battery drain on the wireless mode.

  6. The article claims the controller handles 8kHz on both USB-C and 2.4GHz. That is technically demanding for the firmware stack. Battery life will likely take a hit on the wireless variant.
