Two brand new routers from TP-Link have just been launched for those looking to get Wi-Fi 7 in the budget department. These new Wi-Fi 7 dual-band routers are the Archer BE230 and Archer BE400, both of which will help to provide next-gen speeds to any home for less. For those looking to replace their older Wi-Fi 6 tech or for anyone with a gigabit internet speed and wanting to get the most out of it, these two routers should be of interest.

The TP-Link Archer BE230 is more aimed at budget-conscious consumers who just want a good router that won't break the bank. The Archer BE230 comes with a quad-core 2.0GHz CPU to help drive things along and it has four external antennas to help with range and stability. In terms of speeds, the Archer BE230 will deliver up to 3.6Gbps in total download speeds across the dual-band configuration. This comes with 2,882Mbps (5GHz) and 688Mbps (2.4GHz).

Spec comparison

Spec Archer BE230 Archer BE400
Max Speed 3.6Gbps 6.5Gbps
5GHz Speed 2,882Mbps 5,764Mbps
Antennas 4 external 6 external
Coverage Standard 2,400 sq ft

TP-Link has also made sure that the Archer BE230 offers the best choice of ports to go alongside the high speeds. Here we have one 2.5G WAN, one 2.5G LAN, and three standard gigabit LAN. For those looking to plug in some external hard drive for local file sharing, there's also a USB 3.0 port. You'll find Multi-Link Operation too along with HomeShield security and EasyMesh, and don't forget QoS for gaming prioritization.

Moving on to the more powerful (in terms of maximum speed) Archer BE400. This router can reach a maximum speed of 6.5Gbps. This is thanks to speeds of 5,764Mbps (5GHz) and 688Mbps (2.4GHz).

TP-Link has added six external antennas to this one, which will help provide coverage to up to 2,400 square feet of home. It's also said that up to 90 devices can be connected at once with this router.

Both these new routers can be had right now from Amazon. There are also some good deals on them for U.S. consumers too. The TP-Link Archer BE230 is available for 79.98 USD (around $79.98).

This has been reduced from the original price of $119.99. That's a drop of 33 percent. The other Archer BE400 model is also for sale, coming in at 139 USD (around $139).

This has been reduced from $179.99. So, you can see that there's now a much more affordable route into Wi-Fi 7 hardware.

The launch of these new Wi-Fi 7 routers from TP-Link has come just after the introduction of the Archer 8 Ultra Wi-Fi 8 router. The Ultra model is for those wanting to go for the absolute cutting edge. But, these new BE230 and BE400 models are all about getting easy-to-use dual-band Wi-Fi 7.

If you want to upgrade to Wi-Fi 7 without spending too much money, then there's now the choice between the lower-end BE230 or the one with more power, the BE400. You can choose which one based on your home size and number of devices.

  1. is the 2.5g port on the be230 actually useful for gigabit plans or just future proofing? ngl i need to know if i am wasting money on it.

    1. it is definitely useful if your isp offers speeds over 1gbit. the be230 also has a 2.5g lan port which helps for local file transfers via that usb 3.0 port.
