GeForce RTX 5080, GeForce RTX 5090 are quietly delisted from Nvidia’s official store. GeForce RTX 5080 street prices skyrocket over 2x MSRP ($999) street price. This sudden GPU supply outage means that you either pay over market price to get your gaming GPU or wait for an uncertain GPU restock date. We’ll keep an eye on these because this affects your GPU build budget and schedule.
Street prices for the GeForce RTX 5080 double to over $2,200 following delisting
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 was first released last January with an MSRP of $999 (~$999). As you can see here, the market data for 3rd party resellers for example PNY GeForce RTX 5080 ARGB Epic-X RGB OC has a price of $2,199.99 (~$2200). This is the effect of the scarce GPU supply due to delisting on the official store.
Nvidia also delisted the RTX 5090 from the store. There’s rumors about them halting RTX 5090 production to focus on AI/Data center GPUs. RTX 5070Ti and RTX 5070 are still listed but marked as OOS. So it seems like this is a generalized shortage of RTX 50 series.
It’s rumored that there might be a new version of GeForce RTX 5080 24GB coming out to possibly replace the existing version due to silicon repurposing and memory upgrades. Also check our previous article on NVIDIA Denies RTX 5090 Discontinuation where board partners have trouble ordering GB202 chips. So for now, we’re kind of left in the dark until Nvidia explains their production plan.
Nvidia delisting the important SKUs from their official store shows that there’s a clear change in Nvidia’s GPU retail availability. So for those that want to get RTX 5080 for now, you’re either looking at >$2200 for it or wait until we might get a new version of it. We’ll update this article if there’s any stock recovery or new GPU details from Nvidia.

The rumor about halting RTX 5090 production needs verification. Board partners are still facing GB202 order issues which suggests supply chain friction rather than a deliberate pivot.
Two thousand two hundred dollars for a card that launched at nine hundred ninety nine is outrageous. I am done with this industry.
Is the RTX 5070 Ti going to be next to disappear from shelves? I am watching the stock levels closely.
The article lists the 5070 Ti and 5070 as out of stock but still visible on the store page. This implies a temporary shortage rather than a hard delist like the 5080 and 5090.
iirc the silicon repurposing rumor means we might see a 24gb variant soon. 🤔
Without independent benchmark data for the rumored 24gb variant this is all speculation. I want to see rasterization and ray tracing numbers before buying.
Great article! Now if only RAM prices dropped as fast as GPU availability vanishes.
