MINISFORUM has launched the S5, which it calls the world's first fanless 5-bay all-flash AI NAS. The device is based on an Intel 3rd-gen Core 'Wildcat Lake' processor.
Passive cooling and five M.2 slots define the S5
The S5 features a CNC aluminum chassis with a heat pipe and heatsink fins for passive cooling. It supports up to 16GB of LPDDR5X-7200 memory and includes five M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 x1 SSD slots, with a maximum concurrent speed of 10.8GB/s. Networking options include one 10GbE port, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and Wi-Fi 7.
Specifications
- Processor: Intel 3rd-gen Core 'Wildcat Lake'
- Memory: Up to 16GB LPDDR5X-7200
- Storage: 5x M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 x1 SSD, max 10.8GB/s concurrent
- Networking: 1x 10GbE, 2x Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 7
- Chassis: CNC aluminum with heat pipe and heatsink fins

The S5 is designed for AI workloads and high-speed storage in a compact, silent form factor. Its all-flash configuration and fanless design differentiate it from traditional NAS devices that rely on spinning hard drives and active cooling.
