Microsoft Explains Simple Fix for Frustrating Teams Recording Issue

Microsoft has clarified a common frustration with Teams meeting recordings. The company explained that recordings and transcripts are not stored within Teams itself. Instead, they are saved to OneDrive or SharePoint.

Recordings and transcripts automatically expire based on a policy setting. Once expired, they are moved to the Recycle Bin. Users have a 93-day window to recover expired recordings from the Recycle Bin.

The policy setting 'Recordings and transcripts automatically expire' can be toggled in the Teams admin center. This gives administrators control over the retention period.
