Microsoft is expanding its Copilot AI companion, Mico, to 40 countries around the world. The update moves the service beyond its original United States-only launch in October last year. This rollout marks a shift toward a broader global availability for the emotive AI character.
Mico serves as the visual and interactive face of Microsoft Copilot.
Mico serves as the visual and interactive face of Microsoft Copilot. The companion uses a gooey morph design to present a human-centered approach to artificial intelligence. It functions as an integrated assistant within the Copilot interface rather than as a standalone application.
The expansion covers regions across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Available markets include Canada, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Ireland, Portugal, Greece, Iceland, Cyprus, Malta, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Czechia, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates. The service also extends to Puerto Rico.
Microsoft positions Mico as part of a broader strategy to make Copilot more accessible and visually engaging. The design aims to soften the interaction model by introducing an emotive presence. This approach aligns with Microsoft's stated goal of developing human-centered AI experiences.
Earlier discussions about a Clippy-style companion have been replaced by this Mico implementation. The previous concept appears now as an easter egg triggered within the Mico interface rather than as a separate product. Microsoft has not disclosed detailed technical specifications for the AI model that powers Mico.
Microsoft Copilot Health is currently available in beta and markets itself as a reliable source of medical information. The company plans to release the Copilot Super App in summer 2026. That future update will consolidate Chat, Cowork, and Code functionalities into a single platform.
