Intel Core Ultra 3rd Gen Panther Lake Supports Phison aiDAPTIV for AI Workloads

Intel Core Ultra 3rd Gen Panther Lake processors now support Phison aiDAPTIV memory extension, enabling 26B parameter AI models with only 16GB DRAM.

Phison and are teaming up to bring local AI execution to a wider range of PCs. Their collaboration focuses on running large AI models on systems with less memory.

Phison aiDAPTIV extends working memory to NAND flash.

The partnership pairs Phison's Pascari aiDAPTIV memory extension technology with Intel's upcoming Core Ultra 3rd Gen processors, code-named Panther Lake. aiDAPTIV also works with Intel's OpenVINO toolkit for AI inference.

aiDAPTIV extends AI working memory from system DRAM to high-performance NAND flash via a cache memory layer. This allows a system with only 16GB of DRAM to run a 26-billion-parameter AI model.

Panther Lake positioned for on-device AI in memory-constrained systems.

Without aiDAPTIV, running the same 26B model requires 32GB of DRAM. The technology effectively halves the memory needed for such workloads, according to Phison's internal testing.

The announcement positions Panther Lake as a capable platform for on-device AI, especially in memory-constrained laptops and mini PCs. It also highlights Phison's push into AI memory solutions beyond storage controllers.

Phison and Intel have confirmed the collaboration. The Core Ultra 3rd Gen processors are expected later this year, with aiDAPTIV support available at launch.
