HP recently launched a new OmniBook 5 14 laptop in the USA aimed at users who want a bit more performance than the basic model. The latest version of the OmniBook 5 14 upgrades from the basic Core 5 320 chip to the new Core 7 350 chip which should provide about 9% more CPU performance in typical use cases. This new version is perfect for those who want a little extra performance without necessarily upgrading to the premium version. And this is available immediately.

New HP laptop variant adds Intel Core 7 350 processor and 16GB RAM for $1,069

The new HP OmniBook 5 14 is built on the Wildcat Lake platform from Intel and starts at $1,069. That's an increase of $400 from the starting configuration of the OmniBook 5 14 with the Core 5 320 processor. HP has this particular version of the OmniBook 5 14 on sale in the US right now. This means that consumers have an option for a mid-range ultrabook that comes with a newer version of the hardware.

Specifications

  • Processor: Intel Core 7 350 (Wildcat Lake)
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Storage: 512GB
  • Display: 14-inch 1200p 60Hz OLED
  • Price: $1,069

This particular version of the OmniBook 5 14 has 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage space. It still features a 14-inch OLED display at 1200p resolution and 60Hz refresh rate. Maximum brightness on the display is still 300 nits. HP tells us that we will not see a higher resolution (1600p) or higher brightness (400nit) OLED display until March of 2027. So they have to stick with this lower-spec version of the display on this version of the laptop. The device weighs in at 1.16kg. The battery has a capacity of 60Wh.

According to HP, the 60Wh battery should last up to 42 hours in local video playback testing. That's a bit of a caveat because it is based on a specific type of testing. That might not be real-world mixed use testing. Based on some other review tests of similar hardware, the Core 7 350 is likely to be more power-hungry than the Core 5 320. So you might not see quite the same battery life under heavier workloads. The $1,069 price is for the advertised 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage.
