Google has announced Android 17, the next major version of its mobile operating system, along with a suite of AI features called Gemini Intelligence. The update is expected to arrive in summer 2025.
Gemini Intelligence includes circle to search and Rambler
Gemini Intelligence includes several tools: circle to search, on-the-fly widgets, in-app actions, and multi-modal capabilities. A feature called Rambler can convert natural conversation into organized text across multiple languages. In Chrome, Gemini enables web task automation on smartphones.
Google also unveiled Googlebook, a laptop that merges Chrome OS and Android with Gemini Intelligence. The company is partnering with HP, ASUS, Dell, Lenovo, and Acer to produce the device.
Google partnered with Meta to deliver an authentic Instagram experience on Android. This includes ultra HD capture and exclusivity for the Edits app.
Google has not confirmed the exact launch date for Android 17 beyond a summer 2025 window.
