Dead Space 4 Unlikely as EA Rejects Pitch, Says Original Writer

Dead Space 4 is unlikely to happen, according to original series writer and producer Chuck Beaver. He said the sales numbers do not support a new installment.

EA rejected Dead Space 4 pitch from original creators

Beaver explained that Electronic Arts rejected a pitch for Dead Space 4 from the original creators. The company also never greenlit a Dead Space 2 Remake. The 2023 Dead Space remake sold over 2 million copies, but EA reportedly requires 15 million units to continue the franchise.

Beaver noted that horror games have a sales ceiling. Former EA VP Frank Gibeau's threshold was 5 million units to keep the series going. Now, given higher development costs, the target is around 15 million units.

Beaver said it is disappointing that a beloved franchise cannot reach its logical end, but he understands the business reality. He confirmed that even Motive, the studio behind the remake, was not approved for any follow-up project.
