A Netherlands-based ASUS laptop owner says the company took out a RAM stick during maintenance of his 2023 ROG Zephyrus G14. This is significant because it may show that if you send in your high-end gaming laptop for mobo repairs, you should expect this kind of thing. Any customers who depend on the RMA route for vital hardware repairs should know that at least one user is making this complaint.

A Netherlands customer reports missing memory after motherboard repair
The ASUS customer originally sent in his machine to have its motherboard replaced. It came from the factory with 32GB RAM in the form of two 16GB sticks. Following the repair, the laptop's BIOS claimed that only 16GB of RAM was present.
ASUS has apparently denied any additional RAM was ever there, or that anything was taken out. Apparently, the customer attempted to make the company in Taiwan aware of the issue. They never admitted the difference. They didn't even acknowledge the discrepancy, leaving the owner with no official way to verify what was missing.
The laptop's owner doesn't have any pre-RMA records that would clearly show the laptop came with 32GB RAM. The user didn't even have any pictures or video saved showing BIOS settings or interior parts before sending his laptop in for repair. That's a major problem, because without proof like that, it's hard to make a case for a step up in support. It's also hard to verify the situation for sure.
