ASUS released a beta BIOS update for its X870 and X870E motherboards on April 26, 2024. The update adds support for EXPO 1.2 memory profiles. AMD claims the new ultra-low latency mode reduces memory latency by 5 to 7 nanoseconds compared to standard EXPO 6000 profiles. AMD claims Users can access this feature through the new BIOS versions 2301, 0911, or 1670.
The update introduces several new memory tuning options. ASUS added a Crosshair Tweak option for advanced configuration. The company also released new CKD bypass profiles to optimize memory performance. The update expands compatibility to include memory modules from three Chinese manufacturers. Users can now adjust tREFI, tRRDS, tWR, and VDDP voltage settings through the new interface.
ASUS warns that old CMO files are incompatible with the current AGESA 1301 BIOS. Users must update their configuration files to avoid system issues. The update provides limited early support for CUDIMM memory. Full support for this technology remains reserved for the next generation Zen 6 platform. Beta BIOS updates may contain bugs that affect system stability.
