Intel is reportedly developing a new processor called Razor Lake-AX that will bring back on-package memory for high-performance laptops. The chip is expected to launch around 2028, according to a leak from a source on X and coverage by WCCFTech.
On-package memory returns to laptops
Razor Lake-AX is a complete system-on-chip that integrates CPU, GPU, cache, and memory controllers. It will likely use LPDDR6 memory on the package, though LPDDR5X is also possible. The CPU cores are based on Griffin Cove P-cores and Golden Eagle E-cores, derived from the Nova Lake architecture. The GPU may use either the Xe3P 'Celestial' or Xe4 'Druid' architecture.

The processor is designed to compete with AMD's Medusa Halo APU, which is also expected in the 2027-2028 timeframe. By integrating memory directly on the package, Intel aims to improve bandwidth and power efficiency for mobile platforms.
Intel has not confirmed the Razor Lake-AX name or its specifications. The memory type and GPU architecture remain unconfirmed. The company has not announced a launch date.
