Fujitsu 4KW AC Radiator Drops RTX 3080 Temperatures by 37C and Pushes Power Limit to 459W

YouTuber TrashBench has put a repurposed 4KW radiator from a Fujitsu AC to the test. To see how well it cools high end PC components. This is important, because enthusiasts often try to break the usual thermal barriers for the purpose of overclocking. This setup shows how powerful cooling can affect the performance of consumer graphics cards.

Industrial cooling solution enables extreme GPU overclocking

In general, the test was focused on a single RTX 3080 graphics card. All of this was in the context of a custom water cooling system. The Fujitsu radiator was added to the loop for the purpose of cooling the GPU. The goal was to see how the cooling affects thermal performance and power limits.

Spec comparison

Spec RTX 3080 Core i9-14900K
Temperature Reduction 37°C 3.1°C
Power Limit 459W 230W
Core Clock 2,130MHz N/A

The end result was quite impressive. The GPU temperatures for the RTX 3080 were cut down by 37°C at stock clocks. With this kind of thermal headroom, the power limit was bumped up from the normal 320W to 459W. With this improved power delivery, the GPU core clock was able to hit 2,130MHz.

The next test for this cooling setup was to cool an Core i9-14900K. This CPU was limited to 230W of power, yet the temperature drop was only from 74.8°C to 71.7°C. The reason for such little temperature drop, according to the YouTuber, was due to a possible poor contact from an unspecified water block.

As such, it shows how much of an effect the quality of water blocks has on cooling efficiency. No matter how powerful the radiator.

The test shows how well you can achieve with industrial grade cooling when working with custom PCs. Although GPU performance saw big gains, CPU performance was very much dependent on the contact block quality. If you are looking for extreme overclocking, you should be mindful of the radiator capacity and the quality of the water block.
