The controller is a tri-mode device, supporting wireless, wired, and potentially more modes of connection. It provides 1kHz polling rate on PC to ensure swift input response. SteelSeries has paid particular attention to physical modifiability of the controller.
Specifically, they've adopted a magnetic replaceable module design for the thumbsticks. This design allows gamers to change out the thumbsticks to suit different grip preferences or accommodate natural wear and tear.
Some of the key components within the controller include Hall effect thumbsticks, and a switch for trigger mode that allows gamers to switch between Hall effect sensors and mechanical microswitches. The controller incorporates 18 mechanical input switches to guarantee accurate signal processing for all buttons. Both the Hall effect thumbsticks and mechanical switches are optimized to reduce drift and offer precise tactile response.
The Aeon Pro features a modular hot-swappable battery system. This system enables users to enjoy 11-14 hours of gaming time for each module. The batteries can also be used across a range of SteelSeries headsets, forming a coherent power solution ecosystem for the company. Gamers are able to switch out dead battery modules for fully charged ones instantly, allowing for longer playtime across various devices.
