Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 director Naoki Hamaguchi has shared new details about the upcoming game. In a recent interview, he hinted at the combat capabilities of characters Vincent and Cid, and confirmed the return of iconic elements from the original game.
Vincent and Cid combat details revealed
Hamaguchi said that Vincent and Cid have been designed with "incredibly appealing combat capabilities" in the final game. He expressed excitement for players to try them out. He also noted that Yuffie, who was a standalone protagonist in the DLC, is a versatile character with a balance of long-range and close-range attacks, as well as physical and magical abilities. Hamaguchi added that he always includes her in his party.
The Knights of the Round summon and Sephiroth's Supernova visual effects will return in Part 3. Hamaguchi acknowledged these as iconic elements of Final Fantasy VII but said he cannot yet go into specifics about how they will be handled. He emphasized that careful consideration is needed to balance them with the modern gaming experience.
Hamaguchi also discussed the importance of DLSS for the Nintendo Switch 2 port of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. He noted that achieving ideal visuals in handheld mode is challenging, and DLSS is essential for balancing expansive environments with stable performance. He mentioned that fine details like Cloud's hair can cause issues with reconstruction techniques, and the team has made iterative improvements to hair rendering to minimize artifacts.
Square Enix has not announced a release date for Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3. The information comes from an interview with ntower.
