CXMT DRAM Growth Slows to 6.9% in 2027 as Global Memory Shortage Persists

CXMT's share of DRAM growth drops to 6.9% in 2027. Analysts say Chinese production eases but does not end the global memory shortage.

CXMT is reshaping the global DRAM landscape by capturing a disproportionate share of new supply, yet analysts warn that this momentum is fading fast. Buyers and system integrators should note that while Chinese production eases the immediate chip crunch, it will not trigger a price collapse. The market remains tight through 2027, meaning procurement strategies must still account for persistent scarcity.

Analysts say CXMT eases but does not eliminate the chip crunch

Chinese memory maker CXMT delivered 11.3 percent of global DRAM growth in 2026 despite holding only 6.7 percent of total market share. This outperformance allowed CXMT to absorb a significant portion of the 22.4 percent global market expansion recorded that year. The company effectively bridged a supply gap that would have been much deeper without its output.

Hanwha Securities projects that CXMT's contribution to global DRAM growth will contract to 6.9 percent in 2027. This decline coincides with a projected 24.1 percent expansion in the broader global DRAM market. The firm notes that major competitors , SK hynix, and Micron are also ramping up capacity, which limits CXMT's relative impact on global supply balances.

Supply sufficiency ratios remain negative, indicating that demand continues to outstrip supply. The global shortage is projected to ease slightly from -9.4 percent in 2026 to -5.6 percent in 2027. Without CXMT's production, these ratios would be significantly worse, sitting at -15.5 percent and -12 percent respectively. This data confirms that CXMT mitigates the severity of the shortage but does not eliminate it.

Hanwha Securities stated through P Equity Research that the global DRAM market stays in shortage through 2026-27. They emphasized that CXMT just makes the shortage less severe, rather than flipping the market into oversupply. The data confirms that CXMT plays a critical role in stabilizing global memory availability. However, the company's growing share of new supply will not result in a market surplus. Buyers should expect continued tight conditions and stable pricing through the end of 2027.
