Microsoft has introduced a movable taskbar in the latest Windows 11 preview build from the Experimental channel. The update also adds a small taskbar mode that reduces icon size and hides the date.
New taskbar features arrive in Experimental channel
The movable taskbar feature is identified by ID 59213768, while the small taskbar mode carries ID 61090762. Both features are available in the preview build numbered 26300.8493.
The preview build is available now globally. Users in the Experimental channel can access the updated taskbar immediately.
The new taskbar features come with limitations. There are no touch optimizations, gestures, or show/hide animations for alternative taskbar positions. Microsoft has not confirmed when these features will reach the stable release.
