Valheim 1.0 Launches With Deep North Biome and Cross-Play

Valheim leaves Early Access after five and a half years, marking the end of a long development cycle for the Viking survival hit. The full version 1.0 release finally gives players a complete experience rather than a work in progress. This transition matters because it signals the game's maturity and the arrival of its intended endgame content for the 17 million people who have already bought it.

Iron Gate releases full version across all major platforms

Developer Iron Gate and publisher Coffee Stain launched the update across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch 2, , and Mac. The game supports cross-play on every one of these platforms. Players on different systems can now join the same worlds without platform restrictions. This broad availability ensures that friend groups can play together regardless of their hardware choices.

The centerpiece of the update is the Deep North, a new arctic biome designed for the endgame. This region measures roughly 2.5 times larger than any previous area in the game. Adventurers will face new deadly foes including the Gammeltroll, Elakingar, and Barka. The expansion also brings new crafting recipes and armor sets to help players survive the harsher conditions.

Iron Gate released Valheim in Early Access in 2021, and it has sold over 17 million units since then. The game has built a massive community over its five-year journey. The 1.0 update represents the culmination of that long development period. The full release is now available for those who want to experience the complete vision.
