Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120H-A Dark adds 2,400 RPM fans to all-black CPU cooler

Thermalright releases the Peerless Assassin 120H- A Dark, an all- black CPU cooler with 2,400 RPM fans and 6mm heatpipes, estimated at $55.

Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120H-A Dark adds 2,400 RPM fans to all-black CPU cooler

Thermalright has released the Peerless Assassin 120H-A Dark, an updated version of its popular dual-tower CPU cooler that swaps the standard white finish for an all-black aesthetic. This change matters to builders who prioritize a uniform dark theme in their cases without sacrificing the proven cooling architecture that has defined the Peerless Assassin line. The new model retains the core structural design but introduces faster-spinning fans to push thermal performance higher than the previous generation.

Updated cooler swaps white finish for black and increases fan speed for better cooling

The cooler features six 6mm U-shaped copper heatpipes that use direct touch technology to make immediate contact with the CPU heat spreader. The direct contact design allows the heatpipes to touch the CPU surface directly, improving heat transfer efficiency. The cooler measures 125 by 135 by 159 millimeters.

Specifications

  • Cooling Type: Dual Tower Air Cooler
  • Heatpipes: 6x 6mm U-shaped Copper Heatpipes (Direct Touch)
  • Dimensions: 125 x 135 x 159 mm
  • Fans: 2x TL-N12-R9 V2
  • Max Fan Speed: 2,400 RPM

Thermalright equips the 120H-A Dark with two TL-N12-R9 V2 fans that spin at a maximum speed of 2,400 RPM. This speed is significantly higher than the 1,550 RPM found on the standard Peerless Assassin 120 Black model, which drives the increased airflow. Each fan delivers up to 85.35 CFM of air volume and generates 2.95 mmH2O of static pressure to push air through the dense fin stack. The fans use S-FDB bearings and support 4-pin PWM control to manage noise levels, which peak at 33.3 dB(A) at maximum speed.

The cooler supports a wide range of modern sockets, including LGA115X, LGA1200, LGA1700, and LGA1851, as well as AM4 and AM5 platforms. We previously covered the launch of the TL-N12 fans with LCP blades, which share the same high-speed design found in this new cooler. The increased fan speed on the 120H-A Dark directly translates to better cooling performance compared to the standard black model, making it a strong option for users who need maximum thermal headroom in a dark-themed build.

The estimated price for the Peerless Assassin 120H-A Dark is around $55 USD. Official pricing and specific release dates have not yet been confirmed by the vendor. Buyers should expect the final retail cost to align with the current estimate, which positions this cooler as a budget-friendly upgrade for existing Peerless Assassin owners or new builders seeking high performance at a low price point.
